Wilma "Nan" Arwood

Wilma “Nan” Arwood (McMahan), age 89, passed away Friday, June 18, 2021. Wilma was an active member of Providence Church in Cosby and loved her extended church family. She loved to make homemade quilts for her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends. She enjoyed watching the Lady Vols play basketball and attended games in person as often as she could. She always enjoyed cooking for her family and arranging family reunions. Wilma was the type of person to just enjoy life in general. Wilma is preceded in death by sons, Don and Dale Arwood and Mother, Mildred Layman. She is survived by sisters, Vondle James, Paulette Cureton, and brother Bill Layman; daughter, Janice Venable; son, Dorsey Barnes (Joann Barnes); granddaughter, Ashley Howarth, (Adam Howarth), grandsons, Brian Venable and Kevin Barnes (Jackie Barnes), and great grandchildren, Sydney and Graci Venable, Axton and Addex Howarth. Body will Lie in State from 12-2:00 pm on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Farrar Funeral Home in White Pine. The burial will follow at 2:30 p.m.at White Pine Cemetery, Family and friends will gather at the cemetery no later than 2:15 p.m. for the graveside service.
