WILLIAM ROY MAY, age 90, of Jefferson City, TN, born February 13, 1918, passed away on January 14, 2009. Roy was a member of Mill Springs Baptist church and served as a deacon for many years. He was raised on a farm and became a lifetime farmer himself, often speaking of how farming was in his blood. He was a member of the American International Charolais Association and served as director of Farm Bureau and Farmers Co-Op. As well as farming, Roy retired as postal clerk for the United States Post Office, after 20 years of service. Preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Corbett May; father and mother, Henry and Minnie May; brothers, James L. May, Albert Joe May; sister and brother-in-law, George and Edna Martin. He will be sadly missed by his children, Sarah (Frank) Kinkead of Jefferson City, TN, Lois (Larry) Carmon of Talbott, TN, Bill (Doris) May of Jefferson City. A special thanks to Doris, a loving daughter-in-law for the care given to him, and whom he cherished as a daughter. Also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Bernice May, Alta Ruth (Charles) Whitaker; sisters-in-law, Diris May and Wilma May; aunt, Malissa Thompson; special sister-in-law, Lucy Franklin and Dorothy (Howard) Miller; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening, January 17, 2009 from the Farrar Jefferson City Chapel with Reverend Otto Giles and Reverend Rusty Webster officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Family and friends will gather at 1:00 p.m. Sunday at Farrar Funeral Home to proceed to Jefferson Memorial Gardens for a 2:00 p.m. graveside interment service.
