William Lamar Hackney age 81 of Talbott, went to be with Lord, Sat. Feb. 20, 2016 at his residence following a lingering illness. He was born May 8, 1934 in Dalton, GA. He was a Member of Community Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. He is a retired veteran of the U.S. Air Force with 27 years of Service, and also a retired electrical inspector with the State of Tennessee. Preceded in death by his parents: Wesley and Cora Anderson Hackney. Step Mother; Leah Hackney. Sisters: Doris Huddleston and Bertha (Ernest) Long; Brother Wesley Hackney; Great nephew: Anthony Guinn. Survived by loving wife: Georgia Hackney. Step-sons and daughter-in-law’s: Junior (Lori) Burchell, Terry (Stella) Burchell, Herbie (Gerrie) Burchell, 3 step-grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason) Huskey, Chad Burchell, Kayla (Bradley) O’Quinn, brother-in-law, Bob Huddleston, nieces and nephews, Brenda (Ed) Guinn, Dianne (Tom) Ballew, Nelda (James) Hatfield, Michael Townsend, Gary (Cindy) Bunch, and a number of great nieces and nephews, and special friends, Rev. Gary Norton and David Pecora. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Community Chapel Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Norton, Rev. Scott Cline, and Rev. Dennis Caldwell officiating. Graveside interment will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 22, 2016 at Farrar Funeral Home.
