William L. "Bill" Mannis,age 80 of Dandridge passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2002 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. He was a veteran and Purple Heart recipient of World War II, amember of the Brazelton Lodge #190 F&AM, Swanns Chapel Baptist Church and was retired from Norfold Southern Railroad. He was preceded in death by wives, Pauline Banks Mannis and Alma Rector Mannis; parents, William A. and Gladys Pressley Mannis. Survived by daughters, Verna Davis of Dandridge and Susan Mannis of Knoxville; step-children, Diana Claunch and Dale Hagy of Knoxville; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Cecil E. and Connie Mannis and Ray and Cecil Ann Mannis; sisters, Mildred Keith and Anna Ruth Hurst, all of Knoxville; special friend, Bertha Workman and special caregiver, Kay Corum. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 8, 2002 at Swanns Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. John Price, Rev. Bobby Kitts and Rev. Tony Hurst officiating. Interment graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 9, 2002 with military honors at Swanns Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the church prior to the services.
