William Richard (Bill) Hodges, age 80, of Strawberry Plains, TN, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2014. He was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church and a former member of Strawberry Plains Presbyterian Church. At both churches, Bill served as an Elder and other positions. He was a veteran of the US Army, where he served as a medic and, retired from RBM Company with 30 years of service. He also served his community, including the Jefferson County School Board. He enjoyed fishing on the Holston River with his friends, including Mr. Finchum, Ted Willocks, and Jim Hamilton. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Hodges and Martha McCubbins Hodges Miller; nephew, Lynn Finchum; niece, Pam Sullivan; brother-in-law, Joe Evans; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Arthur and Grace Finchum. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ella Bea Finchum Hodges; daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila Luther (Bob) of Nashville, Julie Ann Seal (Brian) of Knoxville; five grandchildren, Katie Lewis (Brien), Robert Luther, Adam Seal, Elizabeth Seal and Abigail Seal; and great grandchild, Olivia Kate Lewis. A special thanks to the staff at Chandler House and Amedisys Home Health and Hospice Care for all of their love and support. A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 12, 2014 at Eastminster Presbyterian Church with Dr. Sean White officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service. Family and friends will gather at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday at Beaver Creek Baptist Church Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. graveside interment service.
