William Newton (Bill) Day,

WILLIAM NEWTON (BILL) DAY, SR., age 82, of Strawberry Plains, TN passed away Thursday, February 2, 2012 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. He was a deacon and elder of Strawberry Plains Presbyterian Church. He was a lifelong dairy and beef farmer. Preceded in death by his parents, J. Alvin and Sallie Day; brother, Ed Day; and Sister, Edith Day; grandson, DeAndre Williams. Survived by loving wife of 58 years, Geraldeen Walker Day; sons and daughters-in-law, Newton and Teresa Day of Strawberry Plains, Mark and Sandra Day of Strawberry Plains; daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Ralph Kitts of Fairview, NC, Anita and Michael Samuels of Talbott, TN; grandchildren, Aaron (Pamela) Day, Carrie Day, Evan Day, Hannah Day, Jacob Day, Anna Day, Shanice Williams, Zeraline Samuels, and Geraldine Samuels; brother, James (Molly) Day of Yorktown, VA; several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to give a special thanks to Judy Roberts and the staff of Jefferson County Nursing Home. Funeral service will be 7:00 p.m. Sunday, February 5, 2012 at the Farrar Jefferson City Chapel with Rev. Dennis Maxey officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service. Family and friends will gather at 10:45 a.m. Monday at Eastview Memorial Gardens for an 11:00 a.m. graveside interment service. Family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Strawberry Plains Presbyterian Church, 3168 W. Old Andrew Johnson Hwy, Strawberry Plains, TN 37871.
