WILLIAM S. (BILL) BALES, age 81, of Jefferson City, TN passed away on November 19, 2009. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jefferson City, where he was a former deacon, Sunday School teacher and usher. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, and a graduate of the University of Tennessee (1953) College of Engineering. Preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings. Survived by wife of 58 years, Evalyne A. Bales; sons, Jerad D. Bales, Ph.D., and wife Callie Oblinger of Reston, VA, Joel D. Bales (LTC, US Army, Retired) and wife Maggie of Woodbridge, VA; grandchildren, Audrey Britton and husband Travis Britton, Britt Bales, Rebecca Childress, all of Durham, NC, Emily E. Watson and husband Capt Ryan Watson (US Air Force) of Goldsboro, NC, CPT Michael D. Bales (US Army) and wife LT Jenn Bales (US Army) of Enterprise, AL, Julie B. Castor and husband Jeff Castor of Greenville, SC; great-grandson, Asher L. Watson of Goldsboro, NC. The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church of Jefferson City on Sunday, November 22, 2009 from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 2:30 p.m. with Dr. Gene Wilder officiating. Interment to follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church (Building Fund or Benevolence Fund), 1610 Russell Avenue, Jefferson City, TN 37760.
