WAYNE H. “DOBY” WELCH, age 74, of the Chestnut Hill community of Dandridge, TN passed away Monday morning, December 8, 2014. He was co-owner of The Hobby Shop of Chestnut Hill Inc. (an 18-wheeler truck repair shop), and was a popular multi-talented craftsman who was known for his keen ability to fix, repair or customize any job he was asked to do. He will be remembered for his jolly personality and enthusiastic joy of interacting with his many friends and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Julie Finchum Welch; step-mother, Pauline Sweeten Welch; sister, Robbie Welch Gaddis; father-in-law and mother-in-law, French and Lucy Henry Snapp; brother-in-law, French Snapp, Jr.; very special friend and business partner, Swann Dance, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Eutha Snapp Welch; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Barbara Wood Welch; brother-in-law, Robert Gaddis; sisters-in-law, Wanda Owenby Snapp and Joyce Snapp Finchum; 5 nieces and 7 nephews; God Children, Kristi Dance Kincade (Chris) and Megan Dance Stinson (Derrick); life-long best friend, Ken Russell; very special friends, Jim Delozier, Barry French, Ron Chandler and his extended family, the family of Stanley and Ina Norris; 5 canine Airedale Companions, Susan, Lucy, Woodrow, Buford and Toby.
Funeral services, Thursday, December 11, 2014, 1:00pm at the Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. John Wilson, Rev. Mike Hensley and Rev. John Clark officiating. The body will lie in state from 12:00 to 1:00pm prior to services. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon and evening, 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00pm at Farrar Funeral Home in Dandridge.
