Wayne E. Carter

Wayne E. Carter, age 92 of White Pine, passed away at Claiborne County Nursing Home on Sunday, January 24, 2016. He was a Marine Corp Veteran, Mr. Carter served during World War II and was involved with the invasion of Iwo Jima. He was the son Samuel and Maranda Carter. He is preceded in death by 9 brothers and sisters: Emilee (John) McGhee, Otis (Pauline) Carter, James (Gertie Belle) Carter, Glee (Wilma) Carter, Ray Carter and Graydon Carter, Irene, twin-sisters Hattie and Sally. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Melba Sator Carter of the home, children; Richard Carter, Eileen Kenstler and Patty Carter, 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016, 2:00pm, with a visitation from 1-2:00pm prior to the service. The family has requested that In Lieu of Flowers Memorial Donations be made to: Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall 761 E. Dumplin Valley Rd, Dandridge, TN 37725.
