Walter Dewey "Pete" Sutphin

Walter (Pete) Dewey Sutphin, age 69, of Rutledge, TN passed away Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Chandler House Assisted Living in the care of Amedisys Hospice, where he was residing. He was born August 19, 1943 in Roanoke, VA. He later resided in Friendly, MD and was Dental Technician for the Federal Government in Washington, D.C. until he retired. Walter looked for a retirement home in the mountains and found a beautiful home in Rutledge, TN. Preceded in death by his father, George Roy Sutphin; mother, Thelma Leonard Sutphin; sister, Beverly Windham. He is survived by his wife, Lena Baker Sutphin; daughter, Debra Sutphin Marshall (George); grandson, Shawn Walter McEloy of SC; brothers, Roy Leonard Sutphin (Pat) of GA, and Thomas Irwin Sutphin (Linda) of Cottageville, SC; nieces, Victoria Stewart, Marla Goss and Wendy Mathis of Pooler, GA and Amy Brown of SC; nephew, Marlo Sutphin of SC. Graveside service will be 12:30 p.m. Monday, July 15, 2013 at Shiloh Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. noon at Farrar Funeral Home, Jefferson City.
