She was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary American Legion. Retired from the Jefferson County School System (Talbott Elementary) with 25 years of service. Preceded in death by husband, James H. Mallicoat; parents, Tobe and Mattie Burchfield; sisters, Alma Ruth Williford and Bobbie Gass. She is survived by her husband, Bill Speck; son, Randy Mallicoat of Talbott; granddaughter, Sierra Mallicoat of Talbott; sister, Faye Etherton of Newport; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2007 from the Farrar Jefferson City Chapel. Family and friends will gather at 10:45 a.m. Friday, May 25, 2007 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens for an 11:00 a.m. graveside interment service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
