Broadway Blvd. Jefferson City, TN 37760 Phone (865)475-3892 Fax (865)475-9916 OBITUARY: VIRGINIA PURKEY HURST, beloved sister and aunt, age 83, of Talbott, Tennessee, passed away Monday, June 28, 2004 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, where she had been a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years. She was the owner of the Primp Shop in Jefferson City for over 40 years. Preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Hurst; sisters, Mary Kate Talley and Anna Taylor; brothers, George Purkey, Charlie Purkey, Frank Purkey and Robert Purkey. Survived by sisters, Ethel Carmichael, Margaret Wright, Dorothy Allen and Edna Warren; brother, Jack Purkey; sister-in-law, Hazel Love; many nieces, nephews and extended family. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Dr. Sonny Strange officiating. Family and friends will meet at Jefferson Memorial Gardens Thursday, July 1, 2004 for an 11:00 a.m. graveside interment service. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service at Emmanuel Baptist Church.
