VIRGIL WAYNE WALKER, age 84, of Jefferson City, TN passed away October 9, 2009 at his home. He was a member of Cedar Hill Church of God. He was active in the Jefferson County Community as a past member of the Jefferson County Court Commission, former president of the Jefferson City Little League, and was a member of the Lions Club. He was employed by the U. S. Postal Service for 24 years and was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U. S. Navy aboard the USS Almaack in the North Atlantic. Preceded in death by father, Charles R. Walker; mother, Edith Inez Walker Hayworth; daughter, Teresa (Terrie) Walker Key; brother, Donald A. Walker; sisters, Berta Mae Ingram, Omalee McDaniel. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Bertha Marshall Walker; daughters, Mickie McCarter and husband Gary, Kathy Quarles and husband Rodney, Becky O?Baugh and husband, Mel; son, Jerry Walker and wife Beverly; grandchildren, Jason McCarter, Richie Wilhite, Michael McCarter, Traci Key, Kevin Key, Carrie Vogt, Jeremy Bull, Joseph Bull, Amber Quarles, Lacey Walker and Abby Walker; nine great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special caregivers Cheryl Mooneyham, Stacy Mooneyham, Bryan and Whitney Mooneyham; brothers, Jack Walker, Isaac Hayworth; sisters, Ima Jean Foster, Inez Sparks and Nyoka Teague. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 12, 2009 from the Farrar Jefferson City Chapel with Rev. Bryant Collins officiating. Following the funeral service, graveside interment service will be at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City.
