VIOLA LORENE WHITE PONDER, age 86, of Dandridge, TN passed away at Lakeway Regional Hospital in Morristown on April 1, 2011. She was a member of Swannsylvania Baptist Church, former owner of Millstone Grill in the early 60's, a longtime campground owner, seamstress and world traveler. Lorene was born in Hadley, Missouri on October 9, 1924 to Joseph Melvin White and Della Jane Brooks White. She is also preceded in death by her husband, John W. Ponder, whom she married on November 8, 1947; son, Michael Ponder; brothers, Lewis, Charles, Richard and Johnnie Dale White; sisters, Glenna White Ratliff, Thelma Irene White and Beulah Faye White Highfill. She is survived by her son, Mark A. Ponder of Dandridge and special friend, Cindy Gulley; daughter, Marcella V. (Donald) Oberto; grandson, Bradley J. Oberto, both of Montrose, Colorado; sisters, Jean White (Ernie) Foster of Piedmont, Missouri and Ann White (Don) Barnes of Ellington, Missouri; brother, Melvin "Jake" Joseph White, Jr. of Ellington, Missouri. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. at Farrar Funeral Home in Dandridge with Rev. Mike Hensley officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:30 p.m. prior to the service. Graveside interment service will be Monday, April 4, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Union Cemetery in Newport.
