Viola N. Apple, age 89 of College Park, Maryland, formerly of White Pine, Tennessee passed away on Monday, November 4, 2002. She was the beloved wife of the late Rev. Marion Apple and Rev. Carl Beadles and was preceded in death by son, John Beadles. Viola attended Greensboro Women's College and graduated from Berea College and Emory and Henry Pastor's School at Atlanta. She served as one of the first women ministers in the Methodist Church and the Holston Conference, serving churches along with her husbands in Tennessee and Texas. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Dennis Fitzgerald of Seabrook, Maryland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to United Methodist Committe for Overseas Relief (UMCOR), Room #330, 475 Riverside Drive, New York, NY 10115. Funeral services, will be held at 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 8, 2002 at the Beth Carr United Methodist Church in White Pine, TN with Rev. Fred Lehrer officiating. Interment graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 9, 2002 at Lynnhurst Cemetery in Knoxville, TN. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday evening at the Beth Carr Methodist Church prior to services. Arrangements by Farrar Funeral Home in White Pine, TN (865)674-2441
