Vincent (Vinnie) Joseph Clossey Jr. passed away peacefully at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center on 1/7/2023 at 6:26 p.m. at the age of 86.   

Vinnie was born on 4/2/1936 in Jersey City, NJ. He was the only child of the late Veronica Cook Clossey and Vincent J. Clossey, Sr. He married Katherine (Kay) A. Willms on June 15, 1958 who predeceased him after 61 years of marriage on January 21, 2019.  He is survived by his three daughters, Elaine Beene and husband Guy Beene, Karen Clossey, Laurene Clossey and husband Edward Bennett, grandsons Aaron and Ethan Beene, and great grandson Cohen Beene.

Vinnie graduated from William L Dickenson High School, Jersey City, NJ in 1954.  He entered the Army and served from 1957-1961. He went on to have a distinguished, life-long career at American Can Company and officially retired in 1996.  Vinnie and his wife, Kaye, moved to Dandridge, TN upon retirement and enjoyed traveling (Alaska, Hawaii, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, etc.) and were active at the local Senior Center and Catholic Church (Holy Trinity, Jefferson City, TN) during their retirement years. Vinnie was an avid runner starting in his mid forties and ran in over 30 marathons including the Jersey City and Chicago Marathon. Vinnie was also a humorous storyteller and enjoyed family reunions and get togethers.  He was very interested in genealogy and compiled a complete ancestry lineage for both his maternal and paternal genealogy as well as his wife's genealogy for his children's enrichment and knowledge.

Vincent will be profoundly missed by his dear friends in Dandridge and at the Dandridge Senior Center.  All who knew him loved him dearly. A funeral Mass in his memory was held on January 21 at 1 p.m. in New Jersey.

A funeral mass will be conducted at Holy Trinity Church, 475 TN-92, Jefferson City, TN 37760 on January 30, 2023 at 11:00am.  There will be a celebration of life dinner following the mass at: Olive Garden 2540 E. Morris Blvd, Morristown, TN 37813.
