Vicie Hatfield Simpkins Blackburn

VICIE HATFIELD SIMPKINS BLACKBURN, age 96, of Dandridge, TN, and formerly of Red Jacket, WV, passed away Friday, Oct. 20, 2006 in Dandridge, TN. born June 21, 1910 in Newtown, WV, she was the daughter of the late Lewis Wetzel and Irene Long Hatfield. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Guy Simpkins; her second husband, Elder Johnny Blackburn; three brothers and one sister. She was a homemaker, a former cashier at the old red Jacket Coal Company, and a member of the Primitive Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, Ira Wetzel (Lois) Simpkins of Charleston, WV; two daughters, Margaret (Claude) Chafin of White Pine, TN and Patty S. Dotson of White Pine, TN; three step sons, Harold Blackburn of Fenton, Michigan, Grover and Junior Blackburh, both of Kelsa, VA; brother, Ted Hatfield of Princeton, WV; sister, Vada Hatfield of Princeton, WV; grandsons, Robert "Buzz" Simpkins, David Ira "Kip" Simpkins and Michael Simpkins, all of Charleston, WV, Alan Dudley of White Pine and Claude Simpkins (Lydia) Chafin of White PIne; granddaughter, Patricia (Danny) McCoy of White pine, TN and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, October 22, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. from the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, KY with Vance Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Simpkins Cemetery at Beech Creek, WV with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will he held from 6:00 till 9:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
