She was an active member of Piedmont Baptist Church and retired from Douglas-Cherokee Economics Authority after 14 years of service as a social worker. Preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Elmer W. Howard; grandson, Jason H. Cate; parents, Edward and Cecila McDaniel; brothers, Aaron, Wiley and Lawrence McDaniel; sisters, Lora McDaniel, Lona Cox and Helen Helm. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Alyce Ann and Kenneth Cate; her dear grandson, Bryan H. Cate; several dear nieces and nephews; special friend, Ollie Mae Roland; and a host of dear friends. The body will be moved to Piedmont Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 13, 2007 for a 2:00 p.m. funeral service with Reverend James Kinser and Reverend Bob Neil officiating. Interment will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City.
