Van Washington Respess

Van Washington Respess, age 71 of Dandridge, TN, formerly of Pantego, NC, passed away Saturday, May 22, 2004 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville. He was currently a member of First Baptist Church, Dandridge. Mr. Respess was formerly from the community of Terra Ceia in Pantego, NC where he was well known as a community grocert store operator and various roles of community service. He was a graduate of North Carolina State University and proudly served his country as a United States Air Force pilot. Also known as the organist at Terra Ceia Church of Christ for many years as well as his avid interest in playing the accordion. Preceded in death by first wife, Joyce Gaylord Respess' parents, Jesse and Ethel Respess; brothers, rudolph, Ralph and Malvin Respess, Sr. Survived by wife, Martha Respess of Dandridge; sons, Van Washington, Jr and wife Lisa and son, Stanford Macon of Washington, NC; Michael Gaylord Resess and wife Lorrie of Terra Ceia; daughters, Cathy Unger and husband langdon of Martin, TN and Angie Sue Respess of Dandridge, TN; sister, Dorothy Jackson and husband Sonny of Terra Ceia, NC; sisters in law, Marie, Geraldine, lib Respess and Betty Lou McAfee; step children, Brian Parker and Missy Hodge of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Cutler and Michael David Respess, Savannah Smith, Kelly, Gentry, Casey and Carly Unger. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at Paul Funeral Home, Washington, NC. Interment will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery.
