Utah D. Norris

UTAH D. NORRIS, age 88, of Jefferson City, TN passed away Monday, May 26, 2008 at Jefferson City Health and Rehab Center. He was a member of Bethel Mission Bapitst Church and the Morristown V.F.W. Post # 5266. He was retired from New Jersey Zinc Mines with 19 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Preceded in death by his wife, Mary L. Norris; son, Jimmy Norris; granddaughter, Linda Norris; great-granddaughter, Kiona Phipps; and parents, Richard E. and Sarah Jane Norris. He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Helen Norris of Knoxville, TN, and David and Jeannette Norris of Jefferson City, TN; grandchildren and spouses, Cindy Norris Tipton and Danny of Maryville, Greg and Tammy Norris of Knoxville, Gretchen and Will Rivers of Seymour, Connie and Alex Phipps of New Market, Christy and Steve Brittain of California; great-grandchildren and spouses, Becky Tipton Melfi and Mike of Maryville, Matt and Hayley Tipton of Maryville, Chelsea Norris of Knoxville, Daniella and Connellia Norris, Kayla, Caleb, Cameron, Kiarra, Keane and Caden Phipps, all of Jefferson County; great-great-grandchildren, Stevie Brittain, Schuyler Tipton, Chase and Keenan Melfi, Callie and Chandler Tipton. He will be sadly missed by all his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his great-great-grandchildren, their "W.W. II papaw." Funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2008 at the Farrar Jefferson City Chapel with Reverend Kyle Cate officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. prior to the funeral service. Family and friends will gather at 10:45 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2008 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens for an 11:00 a.m. graveside interment service, where military honors will be given by Morristown V.F.W.
