Box 1025 Dandridge, TN 37725 Phone (865) 397-2711 Fax (865) 397-9289 OBITUARY: TROY DEAN WORLEY, longtime resident of Tifton, GA and current resident of Dandridge, TN, died at his residence on March 28, 2006. He was born on July 5, 1925 to the late Eli F. and Evie S. Worley. He was a World War II veteran, entering the Marine Corps at the age of 16, serving in the South Pacific Theater of War with the Amphibious Reconnaissance Battalion, where he was seriously wounded on Iwo Jima. He received the Purple Heart and the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon from James Forestall, Secretary of the Navy. He served with the City of Tifton Police Department for many years, retiring as Chief of Police in 1987. After retiring from the police department, he worked as computer programmer for the city of Tifton until moving to Dandridge, TN in 1998. He also volunteered with the Georgia Agrirama as a computer programmer and consultant, and was a member of Masonic Lodge #47, where he was a past Master of that lodge. Worley was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tifton before moving to Dandridge, where he became a member of the First Baptist Church of Dandridge, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his wife, Marie S. Worley; one daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Thad Epps of Dandridge, TN; one son, Kenneth Worley of Alpharetta, GA; grandchildren, Sandi and husband, H. E. Bittle III of Knoxville, TN, Erik Worley of Decatur, GA, and Rose Marie Worley of Alpharetta, GA; two sisters, Travelle Morgan and Norma Nicholson (William J.), both of Tifton, GA; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning, April 1, 2006 in the chapel of First Baptist Church in Tifton, GA with Dr. Wayne Roe and Dr. Ches Smith officiating. Burial will follow the service in Omega City Cemetery. The City of Tifton Police Department will perform the Honor Guard Drill at the services. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Friday evening, March 31, 2006 at Bowen Donaldson Home for Funerals in Tifton, GA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Tifton Building Fund. The family will be at the home of Travelle Morgan, 711 Marty Lane, Tifton, GA.
