Trent McKinley Martin age 89, of New Market, TN, passed away Sunday, May 2, 2021 at his residence following a lingering illness. Trent was a long-time member of George Street United Methodist Church. He was a member of Mossy Creek Masonic Lodge #353, and a lifelong member of the American Legion. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served in the Korean conflict. He enjoyed farming and restoring antique cars. He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Ilene Martin (Pobie), and his parents Hal and Alice Martin, siblings, Cecil Martin, Eugene Martin, Betty McGinnis and Jane Turpin. He is survived by his son, Trent M. Martin, Jr. (Kenny) and wife, Shalea, daughter, Vickie M. Ownby and husband Steve. Grandchildren, Kelsey White (Justin), McKenzie Tinker (Austin), Matt Ownby (Melanie), and Bethany McCarter (Edd). Great grandchildren, Jonas and Lyla McCarter, and Avery Ilene White. Special thanks to the sitters who cared for him the past year, Natosha French, Amber Spiller, Alexandria Slone, Kim Millington, June Bolden, Vickie Brooks, Cherry Lindsey, Beth Davis and Jennifer Holt. The body will lie in state Tuesday, May 4, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City. Family and friends will gather at Jefferson Memorial Gardens at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 for a graveside service with Rev. Sherry Sellars officiating. Military Honors will be given by Morristown VFW Post #5266. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be given to George Street United Methodist Church.
