He was a life long resident of Jefferson County, TN. He was a member of Nina Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army. He was the son of the late Robert Allen (Bob) Lane and Nancy Charlottie (Lottie) Eldridge Lane. He is also preceded in death by infant brother, James Thomas Lane and infant sister, Gracie Lane; sisters and brothers-in-law, Clara and Anderson (Monk) Strange, Leota and John Luther Walker, Frances and Lee Walker; nephew, Lewis Walker; nieces, Gertrude Walker, Mary Walker (Gene) Haynes and Hazel Walker (John) Riley. Survived by nieces, Barbara Strange (Roy) Reed, with whom he made his home, Ruby (Minyard) McCarter, Margaret (Dooley) Henry, Inez (Jerry) Smith, Marie (Bob) Heft, Carol (Jake) Watson, Evelyn Walker Carr, Joan Walker and Nancy Jean Walker; nephews, Charles Robert (Jeanie) Walker and James Alfred (Hazel) Walker; ten great nieces; eleven great nephews; several great-great nieces and nephews; several other family members and a host of friends. He was a very kind and generous person and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at Nina Baptist Church in White Pine with Reverend Jimmy Norris and Reverend Jim Smith officiating. Burial will follow at French Broad Church of the Brethren Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at Farrar Funeral Home in White Pine.
