"GUS" GILBERT, age 76, of Dandridge, TN departed this life on September 27, 2007. Gus served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and retired from Magnavox Company in 1983. Gus was born in Angola, Indiana on February 28, 1931. He is preceded in death by his parents, Tommy Sylvester and Lela Gilbert. He leaves behind Dorothy, his wife of 49 years; two sons, Tom and wife, Bonnie of Greenwood, Arkansas; Steve and wife, Franca of Youngsville, NC; and one daughter, Jenny and her husband, Stephen of Kingsport, TN; nine grandchildren, Brandon, Brett, John, Kelly, Krista, Riley, Lia, Quinn and Jack. Gus also leaves his sister, Dorothy and husband, Don Reinholt of Largo Florida. We wish him a safe and happy journey free of pain and trepidation and with all the lawns in heaven his to mow in whatever way he pleases. Thanks to the staff and nurses at Baptist Hospital in Knoxville and a special thanks to Dr. Hoadley for his care. The family will have a celebration for Gus at Farrar Funeral Home in Dandridge on Sunday, September 30, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. They will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
