POORE, age 83 beloved wife and mother, of Rutledge, TN passed away on Thursday evening, March 31, 2005. She was born on May 8, 1921, one of nine children born to John and Icie Elizabeth Newsom in Kona, Kentucky. She met and married Audie Poore in Benham, Kentucky, and after several years moved to Michigan. Tommie worked at the Willow Run Bomber Plant during World War II, where she was one of the Rosie the Riveter Girls. Later, she was employed by Ford Motor Company in Monroe. They lived in Michigan 40 years, then retired to Rutledge for the last 19 years. She volunteered at nursing homes, the Red Cross, and other organizations, and enjoyed sports, such as softball, golf, deer hunting and camping. She also was very artistic and loved spending time with arts and crafts. Tommie was a spontaneous and outgoing person who enjoyed life and never met a stranger. Her greatest joy in life was her children and grandchildren. She was recently preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Audie Poore; parents; brothers, Bill, Howard, Evan, and J. C.; sisters, Marie, Clara and Inez. Survived by daughter, Jerrie McLaughlin and her husband, John of California; son, Frank Poore and his wife, Terrie of Michigan; daughter, Donna Griffiths and her husband, John of Hawkins County, formerly of Delaware; grandchildren, Chad, Kory, Rorke, Michael, Victor, Heather, John, Deanna, Danielle; sixteen great grandchildren; sister, Trudy Jackson; sisters-in-law, Velma Newsom, Jesse Newsom and Carolyn Newsom; in-laws, Ina Baldwin and her husband, Carson, Isaac Arlis Poore and his wife, Dorene, Laura Poore and Shirley Poore. Memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, April 3, 2005 at the Farrar Jefferson City Chapel with Father Dan Whitman officiating.
