The sun rose on September 18, 1949 when Sylvester Carroll Carter was born. The sun set on his life on May 27, 2011. Carroll graduated from Jefferson High School. He entered the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country in Vietnam. Carroll was preceded in death by his parents, James B. and Ethel P. Carter; and brother, John
(Big John) Carter. He was of the Methodist faith. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 30 years, Eugenia Carter; five children, Eric Carter of Naples, Florida, William (Poppy) Carter, Billy Fanny (Meisha) of Morristown, TN, Pamela Thompson of Jefferson City, TN, Elder Melvin Thompson (Veneica) of Lithonia, GA; twelve grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth, (Francis) Pate and James Dan (Pat) Carter; sisters, Jane (Ralph) Buis and Sue Singleton; brothers-in-law, Billy (Carolyn) Thompson, Bobby Wilson and Aaron Thompson; devoted sister-in-law, Jamie Wilson; special family friend, Carolyn Burnside; devoted nephews, Marcus Carter, Steve Pate and Jason Carter; several other relatives and a host of friends. Memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2011 at Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City with Rev. Charlie Owensby and Rev. Billy Davis officiating. Inurnment service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning at Westview Cemetery.
