She was a loving mother devoted to her family. Member of First Baptist Church of Jefferson City. She was owner and operator of Shands Construction Company. Preceded in death by husband, Jerry D. Shands and father, Earl Baker. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Eric Murph of Strawberry Plains; son, Brent Shands of Jefferson City; grandsons, Benjamin Murph and Austin Shands; mother, Helen Baker of Jefferson City; brother and sister-in-law, James and Trudy Baker of Georgia; several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 25, 2006 at First Baptist Church of Jefferson City with Dr. Gene Wilder and Reverend Ginger Isom officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. prior to the funeral services at the church. Family and friends will gather at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens for an 11:00 a.m. graveside interment service. The family requests that memorials be made to the Benjamin Murph and Austin Shands Fund, c/o Community National Bank, 156 East Broadway Blvd., Jefferson City, TN 37760.
