STEVEN WAYNE POTTS, age 56, of Talbott, TN passed away Monday, February 16, 2009 at home after an extended illness. He was of the Catholic faith and a loyal member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Steven was a devoted husband, father, son and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his father, Mackey J. Potts and infant brothers, David and Thomas Potts; in-laws, Thomas J. and Mildred L. Thomas of Elmira, NY. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Janet; son, Timothy (Leanne Morgan) Potts of Jefferson City; mother, Mary Potts of Elmira, NY; sister, Thersa (Nicolas) Fusare of Elmira, NY; brother-in-law, John (Mary Jo) Thomas of Florida; several aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends, Bill Chimley, Darrell Lampkin, Dennis Bayse, Darrell Ackerman, Jim Armstrong, and many more. He was a 1970 graduate of Southside High School and BOCES Trade Electrical Program in Elmira, New York. Steven worked for American Bridge/US Steel in Elmira, NY and Orange, Texas for the next 16 years. He was employed in the zinc mining industry for over 21 years, having worked for US Steel, Union Miniere, Savage Zinc, Pasminco Zinc, Tennessee Valley Resources and most recently East Tennessee Zinc Company as a maintenance superintendent. Special thanks and gratitude to Father Dan Whitman, Deacon Jim and Cheryl Prosak, Deacon Gordy and Fran Lowery and the Holy Trinity Church family; nurses Kathy Meyer and Brenda Robertson, Chaplain Ken Thornton, Dr. Mitchell Martin, Dr. Dewayne Darby, and St. Mary?s Residential Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations in memory of Steven Potts to Holy Trinity Catholic Church Building Fund, PO Box 304, Jefferson City, TN 37760, or St. Mary?s residential Hospice, 7747 Andersonville Pike, Knoxville, TN 37938. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 20, 2009 at Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 21, 2009 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Highway 92 in Jefferson City, TN with Father Dan Whitman officiating.
