He was a graduate of Maury High School and Middle Tennessee State University. He was an avid checker player, having played competition checkers on the state and national level, as well as some foreign countries. Preceded in death by mother, Thelma Franklin Lindsay. He is survived by his companion of 23 years, Betty Vanover; father, Walter G. (Junior) Lindsay; sisters, Gloria (Jim) Kelley and Diane Matthews; brother, Gary (Angie) Lindsay; nephews, Sean and Patrick Kelley; niece, Tasha Lane; great nephews, Gregory and Alex Lane; great nieces, Deana and Melissa Denton. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 8, 2007 at the Farrar Dandridge Chapel with Reverend Darrell Chambers officiating. Interment will follow in Grants Chapel Cemetery.
