Stephen Bencho

DR. STEPHEN BENCHO, SR., age 88, of Jefferson City, TN passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 29, 2017. He was born in Plymouth, PA on November 7, 1928. He graduated from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN and worked as an optometrist in Jefferson City for 60 years, and was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, where he was the first president of the Men’s Club, and was a charter member of Lost Creek Golf Course and Morristown Country Club. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, and family man. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Bencho, and nine brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Robie Brown Bencho; children, Patricia Jones; Stephanie Moorefield (Mike); Dr. Stephen Bencho, Jr. (Connie); grandchildren, Katherine Hatch, Dr. Christopher Jones, Zach Jones, Stephen (Tripp) Bencho III, and Allie Bencho; and Grandpa’s special friend and caregiver, William Chico. Family will receive friends Sunday, July 2, 2017 from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City. Funeral mass will be held at 12:00 noon Monday, July 3, 2017 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Morristown with Father Antonio Giraldo officiating.
