Skip Carter

Art “Skip” Carter, age 79 passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at his home in Baneberry, surrounded by his family and loved ones. He is survived by his loving wife and partner of 59 years, Sandra Sue Carter, his daughters; Andrea Beth Ferrante and her husband, Darrin and Stacey Lynn Harber and her husband, Wayne. His three grandchildren; Kassandra Marie Voelker, Shane Robert Voelker and wife Kacey Quinn Voelker and Levi N. Clark, also great-grandson, Liam Carter Clark. Skip graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Civil Engineering. He went on to work at Mosser Construction located in Fremont, OH. He quickly raised through the ranks and soon was CEO and President of Mosser Construction. He was also very active with the Ohio Contractors Association where he hailed as the President and was inaugurated into the OCA Hall of Fame. Skip was an extremely loving and devoted family man. Another of his many jobs was leading his daughters Girl Scout troops, where he taught everyone how to laugh and enjoy life to the fullest. He had a gift to fill a room with laughter and joy. He always put his wife and family first in everything he did. After retirement in Ohio, Skip moved to Tennessee in 2000. He worked part time as a consultant for PC2. He also thoroughly enjoyed fishing, boating, gardening and playing golf with his wife and many Tennessee friends. He enjoyed attending UT basketball games and routing on his team. Skip also enjoyed meeting new friends at the Bridge table. Skip never met a stranger; the door was always open. He was loved by all that knew him, he had a great sense of humor and knew how to live for today. He always found joy and fun in all he did. A Celebration of Skip’s Life will be held on Friday, May 3, 2019, 6:30pm at First United Methodist Church in White Pine, with friends gathering from 5:30 to 6:30pm before the service at the church. His passing comes with sorrow and grief shared by all who knew him. He was a great fire that burned bright, we all lived in his light and warmth for so long that his flame lives on in all he knew. The days and years to come will not be the same without him---but they will be good days filled with life, love and laughter because of the example he lived for us. Bye Bye Now.
