Shirley Gail Woody

Shirley Gail Woody, age 85 of Morristown, TN, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 25th, 2023.  She was born on May 15th, 1938 in Vilas, NC to Osborne and Madge Harmon.  She was a loving wife of 58 years to Kenneth Woody, wonderful Mother to four children, Granny to 9 grandchildren, and Great-Granny to 5 great-grandchildren. She was saved in her home at an early age and devoted her life to serving Christ.  She was present for all of her children’s salvation, helping lead them to Christ.  She was a longtime church member of Chilhowee Hills Baptist Church in Knoxville, TN, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and leader in Children’s Church.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren, tending to her flower garden, reading books, scrapbooking, sketching, and painting.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Madge Harmon and her father, Osborne Harmon; father-in-law, Zack Woody; mother-in-law, Fatima Pauline Woody; brother-in-law, Dowell Wolfenbarger; sister-in-law, Myrna Wolfenbarger; and brother-in-law, Neil Woody.

She is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth Woody; son, Brian (Jodie) Woody; daughter, Emily (Philip) Hopkins; sons, Travis (Elizabeth) Woody, and Shaun (Jessica) Woody; grandchildren, Joshua (Summer) Woody, Isaac (Jamie) Woody, David Woody, Kaitlyn (Logan) Younger, Abbey Hopkins, Zack and Alyssa Woody, Osborne and Kilian Woody; great-grandchildren, Lydia, Lottie, and Ruby Woody, Tilly and Latimer Woody, brother, Joe Bill (Maria) Harmon, sister-in-law, Carol (Jerry) Pratt, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Farrar Funeral Home with Rev. Phil Hopkins and Rev. Josh Woody officiating.  Graveside interment service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Hamblen Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
