Sharon Kay Salmons Estepp of White Pine, age 67 formally of Matewan, WV, passed away on August 13, 2016 following a strongly fought battle with Alzheimer’s. Sharon Kay was born October 21, 1948 in Williamson, WV to Pearl and Lora Salmons. The youngest of 12 children. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Jimmy Salmons, sisters; Bertha Salmons, Patricia Syck, Eva Layne and Dolly Taylor. Sharon Kay graduated from Marshall University with Master’s Degree in Education and taught school in Mingo Co for 33 years. She was one of the first to provide a mobile reading unit in southern WV. Sharon Kay was active with gardening, travel and fun adventures with her family. She was a member of Matewan United Methodist Church where for many years she found joy in service, by teaching Sunday School and serving the community. Sharon Kay is survived by her loving and faithful friend and husband of 43 years, Norville Estepp, her children, Everette Norville Estepp and his wife Amy and Jeremie Heath Estepp and his wife Rye, 4 grandchildren; Frankie Kay Estepp, Issac Samuel Estepp, Heath Isaiah Estepp and Eleanor Rose Estepp, sisters Alice Cook, Rosie Hatfield, Jeanette Simpkins, Patsy Westergren, brothers; Jr. Salmons and David Salmons, also a host of nieces, nephews and other family members. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, August 19, 2016, 6:00pm in the chapel of Farrar Funeral Home, Dandridge. A private Graveside Service will be held at a later date.
