Sarah Inez (Karnes) Sanford

Sarah Inez (Karnes) Sanford, age 81 of Jefferson City, TN passed away on August 3, 2014 with her children by her side. She was born in Knoxville, TN on May 22, 1933. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Jefferson City for 52 years where she served in various capacities on committees and with children’s activities. Inez was a dutiful homemaker for many years while her children were young. She worked at Jefferson Elementary School for 34 years until her retirement in 2005. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Inez was preceded in death by her husband, Joe H. Sanford, parents, Mary and Elmer Karnes, and brother, Eugene Karnes. Survivors include her children, Annette Sanford Stooksbury and husband Brian, Paul Sanford, and Joel Ray Sanford and wife Jennifer, grandchildren, Elizabeth and Brant Stooksbury, Joseph, Andrew, and Tanner Sanford, sisters, Mildred Cooper of Mableton, Georgia, and Martha Frances (Eddie) Wallace of Knoxville, TN, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Jefferson City with Dr. Gene Wilder officiating. Family and friends will gather at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Farrar Funeral Home to proceed to Jefferson Memorial Gardens for a 1:00 p.m. graveside interment service. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church prior to the funeral service.
