Samuel Paul Moyers, Sr. took his last earthly breath peacefully at home on Sunday night, February 24, 2013. He was born on January 17, 1933 in Jefferson City, TN. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U. S. Navy. He was retired from the New Jersey Zinc Company, where he was shift foreman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mildred Moyers; sister, Janie Flynn; brother Bill; and niece, Pam Moyers. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Rita; special loving caregiver, Linda Moyers; sons, Samuel P. Moyers, Jr.; David and wife Rena Moyers; grandson, Samuel ?Paul? Moyers, III and wife Shonda; great-grandsons, Matthew and Cameron; brother, Jim and wife Nancy Moyers; sister, Sandra and husband Mike Leftwich; sister-in-law, Helen Moyers; brother-in-law, H. R. Flynn; several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to caregivers Dalene Foster and Dr. Laura Purdom for their care and compassion. Funeral service will be Friday, March 1, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. at George Street United Methodist Church with nephew, Dr. Paul Richard Moody and Rev. Ray Petty officiating, followed by a meeting of family and friends in the fellowship hall. Please, no flowers.
