GUTHRIE, age 71 of Dandridge, TN passed away suddenly Tuesday morning, December 21, 2004. He was an active member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Dandridge. He was a graduate of Berry Academy in Mt. Berry, Georgia and Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia. Sam retired from the Chrysler Corporation in 1989 and worked with H & R Block until his death. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel E. Guthrie and Lorena Lee Guthrie Foster. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Shurling Guthrie; children, Samuel Evans Guthrie and wife, Norma, Carol Windham and husband, Don, Linda Turley, Steven Guthrie and wife Debbie; sister, Sylvia Bailey and husband, George; brother Norman Foster and wife, Rose; and six grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, December 23, 2004 at Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Dandridge. The family will receive friends from 4:30 until 6:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
