Preceded in death by father, Gordon Smelcer; grandparents, Charlie and Eldridge Smelcer, Emma Quarles and Arvel Talley. He is survived by son, Jakob Ryan Smelcer and his mother, Joy Elizabeth Scalf (Dusty's Joy); mother, Vicky Talley Smelcer; sisters, Debra Anderson, Tracey Elizabeth Estepp and Cynthia Smelcer Hooks; brother, Charles D. "Chip" Smelcer; aunt, Nancy Woodard; uncle, James Carroll Talley; nephews, Christopher McCarter, Jarrod Anderson, Kevin Hooks; nieces, Kelsey Hooks, Mara Smelcer; several cousins and many friends. A celebration of life service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 11, 2006 from the Farrar Dandridge Chapel with John Paul Scalf presiding and other family members participating. Graveside interment service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at Hills Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
