Mrs. Rylma Ann Berquist, a long-time resident of Morristown, TN passed away on November 27, 2018, at Signature HealthCare of Rogersville, TN. She enjoyed her 90th birthday on November 4th with family. Her life will be celebrated at Manley Baptist Church on December 1, 2018. Receiving of friends from 11am-1pm, and a memorial service at 1pm.
She is the second child of Elbert Thayer Cumings and Dovetta Capling Cumings, born on November 4, 1928, in Detroit Michigan. Her younger brother, Ted Cumings, survives her, while elder brother Elbert Parker Cumings, preceded her.
Throughout her life she used her education degree and skills, teaching in New York and Tennessee public schools, and at Academia Los Pinares in Honduras. She was a faithful and active member of Manley Baptist Church of Morristown, its missions efforts, and had served most recently as a volunteer at the Morristown Pregnancy Crisis Center. Preceded by her beloved husband Jack Victor Berquist and two of her eight children (Eric and Larry), she will be particularly remembered by the many who knew her for her love of Jesus Christ, her encouraging spirit and determination, her prayers, generosity, smile and wit, musical capacity, sour-dough pancakes, as well as her 1200 Harley Davidson and extravaganza of unique earrings! Rylma is survived by her children: Lance, Lisen, Todd, Gretchen, Thor, and Dag Berquist. Memorials may be made in her name to The Gideons International.
