OBITUARY:
Ruth Wilson DeArmond, age 92, of Jefferson City, TN and formerly of Knoxville, died peacefully on November 9, 2004 at Darby House, Jefferson City. She was a graduate of Carson-Newman College and a member of First Baptist Church of Jefferson City. She was the daughter of Ulysses and Viola Wilson. A devoted minister?s wife, she was actively involved in mission organizations, taught adult women?s Sunday School for over 50 years and was an avid letter writer. In recent years she enjoyed the ministry for senior adults at First Baptist Church and appreciated the staff at Darby House. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond; her granddaughter, Kym; and her sisters, Ruby and Violet. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Bill Blevins; son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Barbara DeArmond; grandchildren, Suzanne Wilkerson of Atlanta, Art Blevins of Denver, Alan and Shannon Blevins of Knoxville, Robert DeArmond of Atlanta, Beth and Dale Labbe of Atlanta; great grandchildren, Alex and Sydney Blevins of Denver, Jaclyn and Noah Wilkerson of Atlanta and Cara Labbe of Atlanta; a nephew and three nieces. In recent years, Ruth especially appreciated the friendship of Irene Shurden and the loving care of long-term caregivers, Shirley Manley and Georgia Williams. Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 13, 2004 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Knoxville. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 13, 2004 at First Baptist Church in Jefferson City with Reverend Jim Dampier and Dr. Gene Wilder officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the memorial service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Ruth Wilson DeArmond Scholarship or the DeArmond Missions Fund at Carson-Newman College.
