Rufus D. Manis

RUFUS D. MANIS, age 93, of White Pine, TN died peacefully at Heritage Center in Morristown, TN on April 4, 2011. He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Surrett Manis; sister, Helen Bryant; and brother, Johnny Manis. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Doyle and Marilyn Manis; granddaughter, Donna Yates; great-granddaughter and fiance`, Jessica Loveday and Will Jones; great-grandson, Joshua Loveday; brothers-in-law and wives, Donald and Carolyn Surrett, Earl and Betty Surrett; sisters-in-law, Polly Surrett and Mary Surrett Chambers; also several nieces and nephews. Rufus moved to White Pine from Hawkins County when he was a young teen. He worked as a farmer and then at American Enka, where he retired after 30 years of service. He was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in White pine, where he served as an usher for many years. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to First United Methodist Church, PO Box 146, White Pine, TN 37890. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of White Pine with Rev. Mark McFadden and Rev. Mike Sledge officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. prior to the service. Graveside interment service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 7, 2011 at White Pine Cemetery.
