OBITUARY:
RUBY PEARL RATLIFF, age 87, of Rutledge, TN, formerly of Harlan County, KY, began celebrating eternal life in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 15, 2007. She is preceded in death by her husband, Granville Ratliff; father, John Bunyon Phipps, mother, Alta Phipps and brother, Ray Phipps. Mrs. Ratliff is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Betty Ratliff of West Point, IN; daughter and son-in-law, Judith and Bill Burton of Rutledge; grandsons, Jimmy Gene (Pamela) Ratliff and Timothy Dean Ratliff of Indiana, Rev. William (Maria)Burton of Morristown and Ray (Wendy)Burton of Rutledge; and six great-grandchildren; brothers, James Phipps, John Phipps and Roy Phipps; sisters, Buenas Watson, Helen Grace Isaac and Mary Ruth Phipps, all of Ohio; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Ratliff was active for many years at the Closplint Missionary Baptist Church in Closplint, KY. It was there she met Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and served as WMU director, song leader, Vacation Bible School director and many other areas as well. She took every challenge that came her way with a positive, faith attitude and had a passion to live life to its greatest potential. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City. The funeral service will follow at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. William Burton and Rev. Rusty Webster officiating. Friends in Harlan, KY are welcome to join the family for graveside interment services at Evarts Memorial Garden at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 18, 2007.
