Box 1025 Dandridge, TN 37725 Phone (865) 397-2711 Fax (865) 397-9289 Dawson, Ruby Hughes, age 88, of the Kansas Community in Dandridge, TN, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2005, at the Jefferson County Nursing Home after a lingering illness. She was preceded in death by husband Roy ?Euke? Dawson; parents Samuel K. and Maxie Jane Hughes; sisters Beulah Wheeler, Lois Myers, Edythe Drinnon, Frankie Garrett, Martha Buckner and infant Mary Ruth; and brothers Charles, James and infant Lloyd Warren. Survived by her five daughters, Joann Bruce (Bob), Betty Bales (Bud), Ella Dean Shively (Dit), Patsy Bettis, and Barbara Glenn (Jack); grandchildren Angie Combs, Amy Hardy (Phillip), Cynthia Vaughn, Mike Glenn, Jeff Bettis (Linda), Billy Bales, Sean Glenn and Kelli Shockey (Sean); great-grandchildren Jessica and Jennifer Bewley, J.D. Vaughn, Katie Bettis and Brayden Shockey; and several nieces and nephews. Ruby was a loving, hard-working wife and mother who was very proud of her five girls and their families. She was a faithful member and Sunday School teacher at Ebenezer United Methodist Church. She was also an active member of the United Methodist Women and the Home Demonstration Club. Ruby was known for her cooking, gardening, sewing and crafts, and had numerous blue ribbons to show for her talents. For many years, she served as a correspondent for the Standard-Banner, reporting social news and birthdays for her community. Thanks to all the staff at Jefferson County Nursing Home who gave such loving care to our mother, especially Mary and Pam. The family will receive friends at Ebenezer United Methodist Church from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 1. The service will follow immediately at 7:00 p.m. with Reverend Rose Mincey and Reverend Jeff Moncier officiating. Graveside services will be at Ebenezer Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 2.
