Roy Lee Hurst

ROY LEE HURST, age 86 of Dandridge, TN passed away Thursday morning, August 30, 2018 at the University of Tennesse Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, Trula (Garner) Hurst; parents, Isaac Richard and Glennie (Melton) Hurst; son, Melvin Hurst; daughter, Patricia (Darlene) Hurst; grandson, Jeffrey Boyd; brothers and sisters, Norine Terry, Virgil Hurst, Agnes Williams, Bobby Hurst, Richard Hurst, Genevieve Woods and Wanda Reed. He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Guzman; brother Charles (Dub) Hurst; 6 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Roy was devoted father and grandfather and will remembered for his joy of coaching and being active in youth sports. Roy loved attending the Hurst Reunion on Labor Day weekend, the reunion was organized and has been ongoing since 1965. This Sunday the family will honor Roy and others that have went before them. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 3, 2018, 11:00am at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Shults officiating. Interment to follow at Ellejoy Cemetery in Seymour, TN.
