Roy R. Bales

ROY R. BALES, JR., age 90, of Knoxville, TN, and formerly of Jefferson City, TN, passed away on June 30, 2014. He worked as an engineer for the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) for more than 30 years. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Roy was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was extremely proud of his family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Bettis Bales of Knoxville and formerly of Jefferson City; his parents, Lettie Henry Bales and Roy R. Bales, Sr., of New Market, TN; brother and sister-in-law, Burrell and Ruth Bales of Cave-in-Rock, IL; sister and brother-in-law, Hazel and George Willard of Knoxville; sisters, Leona Bales and Evelyn Bales of Knoxville; sisters, Helen Bales, Frances Bales and Imogene Bales of New Market, TN. Roy is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and Karen Bales of Avon, CT, Michael and Ann Bales of Knoxville; daughter, Angelyn Bales of Knoxville; grandson, Joshua Bales of Memphis; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Caleb and Cassie Bales of Knoxville. Memorials may be made to Second Harvest Food Bank, 136 Harvest Lane, Maryville, TN 37801. Graveside interment service was held at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
