RONALD LEE ATHERTON, SR., age 68, of New Market, TN (Dumplin Community) passed away Saturday, August 23, 2008. A loving husband, father and friend, Ron enjoyed life to the fullest and will be remembered for his unique way of bringing smiles and laughter to family and friends when they were around him. Preceded in death by his father, Ernest Atherton; mother, Grace Brown Atherton Parent; brothers, Ernest Bennett Atherton and Louis Atherton; sister, Patricia Lewis. He is survived by his wife, Agnes Jones Atherton; sons, Ron Atherton, Jr. and Michael Edward (Kimberly) Atherton; grandchildren, David Atherton, Shaina Miranda West and Marcus Shaun West; great-grandchildren, Makayla West and Kelsey West; sisters, Nancy Atherton, Jeanette Riner and Cathy Needham; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 25, 2008 at the Farrar Dandridge Chapel with Reverend Herbert Jones officiating. Interment graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Fain Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
