Roger "Rod" Wayne Mills

ROGER WAYNE MILLS “ROD”, age 67 of Kodak, TN, passed away on October 7, 2023. He passed away with his daughter, son-in-law and special friend by his side, after an extensive, unrelenting battle with congestive heart failure.

Rod was born in Knoxville, TN to the parents of Opal Flynn and Ernest Mills, Jr. He grew up with many brothers and sisters. He attended Sevier County High School. This sparked his passion for auto mechanics. At the young age of 23, he started his own business, Rod’s Wrecker Service in Kodak. He operated this business for over 25 years of his life. Rod was an honorary member of the Northview/Kodak Volunteer Fire Department. Rod did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving his family and being a trustworthy and dependable friend. He believed that everyone deserved a second chance.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Opal Katherine Flynn and Ernest Mills, Jr.; sisters, Teresa A. McHan, Katerine Cantrell, Sandra “Sandy” Terry and Karen Woodby; brothers, Gordon C. Mills and Ernest “Mike” Mills; and wife, Debra “Debbie” Mills that he deeply missed.

Rod is survived by his children, Chassi Mills-Brooks (David), Gary Burchfield (Shannon) and Dereck Mills; grandchildren, Caleb, Logan, Joshton, Jackson, Zackary, Colby and Kendall; sisters, Stephanie Barbee (David) and Crystal Lay (Jack); brothers, Winford Mills (Beth) and Herbert Mills (Amy); many nieces and nephews, along with many special friends, Joseph Monk, Stephen Chaney, John Foster, Tom Blankenship, Donald Hickman, Sr., Lynn Underwood and Harold Gene and Kathy Seagle.

The family will receive friends from 5:00pm until 7:00pm on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at Farrar Funeral Home in Dandridge, TN with a service immediately following with Reverend Brad Stapleton officiating. The interment will be Monday, October 16, 2023, at 11:00am at Henry’s Crossroads Cemetery. Those participating in the tribute procession, please line up at the funeral home by 9:30am on Monday morning.
