Robert "Papaw" Sidney Mowery

MOWERY, Robert Sidney “Papaw” age 91, of the Piedmont Community, Dandridge, TN, was born June 20, 1922 and passed away at 4:00pm April 8, 2014 at the Jefferson County Nursing Home. He was member of the Deep Springs Baptist Church and was veteran of the U.S. Army, having served over 4 years during World War II in the 41st Infantry Division (Hell on Wheels). Preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn (French) Mowery, one granddaughter; parents, Sidney and Virgie Mowery; brothers, Bill, Rex, Carroll, Burl and Hosea Mowery; sisters, Alice Mowery, Anna (Mowery) Cline and Polly (Mowery) Shores; several nieces and nephews. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn Ann and Ray Bryan of Dandridge; grandson and wife, Samuel and Stephanie Bryan; great- granddaughter, Marianne Bryan of New Market; grandson and wife, A.J. and Leah Spoone; extended family, Ms. Frances and Bill Spoone; brother-in-law, Mayford French; sisters-in-law, Bonnie French, Mary Ruth French, Willa Mowery; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank each and everyone who assisted with their love and care of Robert Mowery and his family during his convalescent time. Funeral service will be Thursday, April 10, 2014, 7:00pm at Deep Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Chad Chambers and Rev. Danny Matthews officiating. Graveside interment with military honors will be Friday, 4:00pm at Deep Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be veterans of the church, Jerry Slagle, David Scott, Alger Morgan, Bob Gann and nephews, Frankie French and John French.
