Robert R. Martin

Robert R. Martin,age 72 went to be with his Lord on Sunday, March 30, 2003. He was a member of the Swanns Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. He was the founder and owner of M & M Excavating Company, a retired supervisor of US Steel Corp, and a long time heavy equipment operator. He was a veteran of the Army, having served his country during the time of the Korean Conflict. preceded in death by his parents, Ernest R. and Dorothy (Sturgeon) Martin. He is survived by hia wife of 52 years, Marjorie McCoig Martin; children, Tim Martin and wife, Lora, Marsha McSpadden and husband, Charles, Sandy silver and husband, John, Jean Riley and husband, Steve, all of Dandridge; grandchildren, Chuck McSpadden and wife, Carmella, Andy Riley, Betsy Riley, Joel Silver, Sadie and Molly Martin, all of Dandridge, Scott McSpadden and wife, Jennifer of Chickamauga, GA; great grandchildren, Austin, Ashley, Kaylee, John-Jacob, Chelsea and Mason McSpadden; brother, Kenneth Martin of Lithia Springs, GA; sisters, Ann Bailey of Clinton, Edith Newman and Carolyn White of Dandridge; several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, March 31, 2003 from the Swanns Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. John R. Silver and Dr. Sonny Strange officiating. Interment graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Dandridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends immediately following the funeral service at the church. The dedicated employees of M & M Excavating will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorials be made to the Jefferson County Rescue Squad of the Dandridge Volunteer Fire Department, P. O. Box 726, Dandridge, TN 37725.
