Reva Derrick Thornton

REVA DERRICK THORNTON, age 90 of the Chestnut Hill community of Dandridge passed away Wednesday morning at Jefferson Park Nursing Home. She was active in community affairs where she volunteered her time and talent in caring for others and helping with many activities for church and school functions and Ruritan Club events. Reva was a member of the Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church and worked for over 25 years as manager of the A.J. Bush Cafeteria where she will be fondly remembered for greeting everyone with a friendly smile and serving up a generous portion of hospitality. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother who was nurturing and loving to her family. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Ferd and Nola (Byrd) Derrick; brother, Hal Derrick; sister, Alma Jean Thornton and nephews, Barry Fox and Mike Thornton and is survived by her husband of 69 years, Billy Thornton; son, Terry (Pat) Thornton; daughter, Tena Brockwell and fiance`, Larry Walker; grandchildren, Tim Christie) Wolfenbarger, Amy (Brian) Horton, Derrick (Julie) Brockwell and Jamie (Danny) O’Donoghue; great-grandchildren, Brady (Brie) Horton, Connor and Duncan Horton, Chesni and Chase Wolfenbarger, Pacey and Lelan Brockwell, Bray and Brock O’Donoghue; sister, Pauline Fox ; sisters-in-law, Ann Derrick and Wanda Clevenger; several special nieces and nephews. The family extends a special thank you to the caring staff at Jefferson Park Nursing Home. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial gifts be made to Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church or The Pat Summitt Foundation 520 W. Summit Hill Drive, Suite 1101, Knoxville, TN 37902. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 7, 2018, 4:00pm at the Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. John Clark and Rev. Charlie Boggan officiating.
