Raymond (Ray) L. Pruitt

RAYMOND (RAY) L. PRUITT, age 70, of New Market, TN passed away suddenly at 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2009 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. He was of the Baptist faith and was a veteran, having served in the U. S. Navy. He was a retired banker and prominent business leader of Jefferson County. He was an avid sportsman who loved to golf, hunt and fish. He cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren who were the lights of his life. Preceded in death by parents, Estel and Madie Pruitt; sister, Lorraine Tuell; and brother, Steve Pruitt. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Pruitt; son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Kim Pruitt of Knoxville; daughter and son-in-law, Kristi and John Yorko of Kansas; grandchildren, Tyler, Isabel, Sophia, Nolan, Jacob and Maddux; brothers, Bill (Erma) Pruitt of Virginia and Herman (Carolyn) Pruitt of Virginia; sister, Sue (Paul) Steagall of Virginia; several nieces and nephews. Memorial funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2009 from the Farrar Jefferson City Chapel with Dr. Robert McCray officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. prior to the memorial service. Private inurnment will be held at a later date.
